Seeking OS Recommendations for VMs in a Home Lab

I'm setting up a small home lab with two HPE microservers—one Gen10v2 and one Gen11—as well as a Synology rackstation. Instead of installing Linux directly on the hardware, I plan to run ProxMox on the servers and create virtual machines (VMs). One VM will mainly handle file sharing using Samba, while the other will serve as my platform for learning Docker, focusing on applications like Immich. I've narrowed down my choices for the VM operating systems to either Ubuntu LTS or OpenSUSE. I'm looking for insights from anyone who has real-world experience with either of these options, as I'd prefer not to switch distros frequently, especially for the Samba server.

If you're torn between those two, I'd lean towards Ubuntu. Stick with the server images to avoid unnecessary bloat and speed up deployment!
