Hey everyone! I'm currently gaming with an Nvidia 1660 Super and an i5 9400F, but I'm struggling to hit even 100 FPS in Fortnite. I've never optimized my PC before since I'm not too tech-savvy and I'm worried about screwing something up. Should I be looking to upgrade my graphics card or CPU for better performance? Also, any general tips on optimizing my games and computer would be super helpful!

What settings are you playing on? Have you tried using tools like MSI Afterburner to monitor your CPU and GPU usage? Knowing what your specs can handle is key. Aim for the FPS you want to hit too; that’ll help guide your optimizations!
Definitely try the performance overlay in Fortnite to see what's bottlenecking your performance. That can give you clear hints on what you should focus on upgrading or changing.
To really help you out, we need more info about your setup. What graphics settings are you using and what's your monitor’s resolution and refresh rate? For instance, if you're on 1080p with a 180Hz monitor, that’s great! Also, which version of Windows do you have? Keeping it updated can make a difference too. Plus, how much RAM and what kind of storage are you using?
I’m running on 1920 x 1080 at 180Hz with Windows 25H2 and I have 16GB of DDR4 RAM. My storage is a 1TB SSD.
When I used to play, I had an i7-9700 paired with a 2080 Super, and I was getting around 240 FPS at 1920x1080. Fortnite can be intense, so playing on low settings is actually a good way to go if you're having trouble hitting those higher FPS. Just remember, I get that you’re already on performance mode, which is smart!

I play on 1920x1080 with performance mode on Fortnite. My goal is to reach 180 FPS.
