Is My Windows 11 Crashing Due to a Bad Copy?

I recently got a mini PC, and I'm having a hard time installing trusted applications like Chrome, Steam, and Avast. Every time I try to install them, I keep running into the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD). Could this mean I have a faulty copy of Windows 11? I really want to avoid the hassle of returning the PC. Is there something I might be overlooking?

In my experience, Avast was the culprit for similar crashes. I re-downloaded the installer, and it worked just fine after that. You might want to try that too.

Since your device is new and there's not much important data on it yet, why not try a clean install of Windows? It’s usually pretty quick, around 15-20 minutes. Here’s a standard guide that might help you out.

Definitely consider uninstalling Avast. I've seen cases where its drivers cause BSODs. Windows already has a built-in antivirus, so you can get by without it.

This sounds like it could be a hardware issue. My first guess would be the RAM. If you can, run a RAM test to check for any problems.

If you're still having trouble, consider doing a reinstall. But since it's under warranty, contacting support for advice might be the best route.
