Hey everyone! My laptop's power connector is failing and it doesn't charge when I plug in the power cord. I took it to a repair shop and they replaced the connector, but it only lasted about three weeks. I've called around and most places have told me that fixing this type of issue isn't very reliable. The laptop itself is working fine aside from the connector problem. Are there any other solutions I could consider for fixing it? I included a link to some pictures showing how it's connected directly to the main PCB: https://imgur.com/a/h65WPqc.

Have you checked if your original repair is still under warranty? You might want to go back to the shop where you had it fixed. If you're comfortable with soldering, you could buy the connector and resolder it yourself. Also, do you know if your laptop supports USB-C charging? That could be a handy backup!
Unfortunately, repairs to laptop power connectors can often be tricky and aren't always durable. If you're able to, look into using magnetic connectors to help reduce strain on the board. Another idea is to consider a docking station, which can power the laptop externally. If the internal space allows, some people have even managed to use flexible wiring to connect externally or come up with wireless charging options, though they might be less efficient. If you're open to it, replacing the motherboard would also be a more permanent fix.
Thanks for the suggestions! I’ll definitely consider a docking station or even some of those magnetic connectors.
Could you share what make and model your laptop is? That might help us suggest specific solutions.

I didn’t realize it could charge through USB! I’ll look into that option, thanks!
