Why can’t I get my 240Hz monitor to display at its full refresh rate?

I'm having trouble getting my XG27AQDMG monitor to display at 240Hz. It only goes up to 120Hz. I have an RTX 5070 Ti and a Ryzen 5 9600X with 32GB of DDR5. I've checked all settings in Windows, the NVIDIA Control Panel, and in-game, but it seems stuck at a maximum of 120Hz. What could be the issue?

Check the length and quality of your cable. If you have a really long or older cable, it might not support the bandwidth needed for 240Hz. Also, make sure it’s directly connected to the GPU and not the motherboard because that would lead to issues as it relies on the integrated graphics instead of your dedicated one.

Yeah, it's plugged into the graphics card, so it should be fine. I’ll see about checking cable length.

Be sure to check if Black Frame Insertion is turned on. Sometimes referred to as Extreme Low Motion Blur in the monitor settings, this can limit you to 120Hz. If it’s on, turning it off may help you reach 240Hz again.

Nope, that feature is off. Still can’t get past 120Hz though.

Are you using the right type of cable? If you're connecting via HDMI, keep in mind that it generally caps at 144Hz for 1440p, especially if deep color settings or HDR are turned on. You might want to try using a DisplayPort cable instead since it supports higher refresh rates.

I'm using the DisplayPort cable that came with the monitor, but maybe the HDMI was limited?
