About an hour ago, I accidentally spilled half a glass of buttermilk on my laptop keyboard. As soon as it happened, I flipped it upside down and turned it off after about 5 minutes. I then cleaned the surface with a cotton cloth and a cleaner I had on hand. Right now, the laptop is in a V shape to help it dry. I'm really worried about the potential damage. What more should I do?

It doesn't sound good, honestly. If you turned it off quickly, that's a plus, but you might still be looking at a dead laptop. You should let it dry without turning it on. If you're comfortable with it, open it up and clean the inside properly to make sure there's no lingering buttermilk. If you're not sure how to do that, you'll probably need to take it to a professional once it’s dry.
Good call on flipping it upside down! The next step is to give it some time to dry out. If you've already cleaned it, then seriously consider waiting 1 or 2 days before turning it back on. If it doesn't work after that, you might need to get a new one. Just salvage your hard drive for all your files!
Yeah, it seems like your keyboard might be messed up. I had a friend spill some drink on their laptop, and it barely survived. Just like you did, they flipped it and let it dry. After a couple of days, they managed to turn it on and it actually worked, albeit with some issues. So, there's still hope if you let it dry completely and check everything.
Sorry to hear about the spill! If you took out the battery and did some cleaning, you did the right thing. Just beware of the sticky keys from the buttermilk, especially if one gets stuck. Let it sit for a while to dry out. If it doesn't turn on later, you can at least save your data by removing the hard drive.
