What CPU should I upgrade to from a Ryzen 2600 if I can’t find a 5700X3D?

I'm looking to upgrade my Ryzen 5 2600 because it's holding back my new RTX 5070, which my cousin gifted me. I've been eyeing the Ryzen 7 5700X3D, but it's either sold out or priced way too high where I live in Canada. My current setup includes an MSI B550 GAMING GEN3 motherboard (the PCIe 3.0 version), 16GB of Crucial Ballistix Sport LT RAM running at 2666MHz, and a plan to upgrade my PSU along with the GPU later. Ideally, I'd like to keep my CPU budget around $300 CAD. What are some suitable alternatives to the 5700X3D that will work well with my system?

I'd actually recommend the Ryzen 5 5600 if you can find it for around $100. It offers great performance for the price, and it's a good option if you're on a tighter budget. If you're able to grab the 5700X or the 5800X, those are definitely better, but the 5600 will still give your rig a nice boost.

While the higher-end CPUs like the 5700X and 5800X are good options, don’t overlook the 5600. Even though it’s a bit more budget-friendly, it can still handle modern games quite well, especially if your RAM could be upgraded later to match higher frequencies, which will help too.

You might want to consider the Ryzen 7 5800X. It pairs well with your setup and will give you a big performance boost. Just ensure you have a decent cooler since it's a 105W chip. It's worth it unless you're worried about heat management, in which case the 5700X would be a solid choice too. Just remember, the 5700X is limited to 65W, so it's easier to cool if that’s a concern for you.

Definitely look into the Ryzen 7 5800XT if you can find it at a reasonable price. It's essentially an improved 5800X with better efficiency, and it should give you significant performance gains compared to your current CPU. Just keep in mind you might need to update your motherboard's BIOS for compatibility.
