I'm considering upgrading my graphics card from a 3060 to a 5070. The most demanding game I play is Call of Duty, usually at 1440p, and my current setup gives me about 50 fps with the settings I use and DLSS. My CPU is a Ryzen 5 5600X and I have a 650W Gold-certified power supply. I've also looked at the 9070 series and both 4070 and 4070 Ti options. I'm really eager to hear any advice or opinions you may have on this upgrade!

Honestly, I made the jump from a 3060 Ti to a 5070, and it was worth every penny. I saw a performance increase of about 70-90% across the board. If you're playing at 1440p, you might find the upgrade to the 5070 really enhances your gaming experience. Just make sure to consider your cooling and spacing in your case too, as I had to fit mine into a smaller HTPC setup!

That's a solid gain in performance! Did you have to change anything in your setup other than the GPU?

Good point about cooling! My 5070 runs cool under load, but case size can definitely impact that.

If it's within your budget, why not aim higher? A lot of people are suggesting the 4090, but that might be overkill for your needs. Just keep in mind that upgrades usually involve more than just the GPU if you're moving to a new generation, like power supply or connectors. Do check out the performance reports and community feedback before jumping in for the 5070!

True, but those 4090s are way out of my budget! I’m more comfortable in the 500-600 range right now.

For sure, the 5070 still offers a great performance value compared to the 4090.

Upgrading from a 3060 to a 5070 sounds like a great choice! I just moved up from a 3060 to a 5070 Ti, and the difference was incredible. You'll notice a substantial boost in performance. However, do take into account that the 5070 may require a power supply upgrade to at least 750W, so that could affect your overall budget. If you're considering alternatives, I think the 9070 XT could be worth exploring too, especially depending on current prices.

That sounds promising! I'm curious about whether my current 650W supply is sufficient if I go with the 5070.

Definitely check if your PSU is high quality! A good 650W can handle the load in many cases, but it might be tight.

While the 5070 is a decent upgrade, I wonder if you shouldn't wait for a 16GB GPU. Many say that's becoming the minimum for future-proofing. The 5070 has 12GB, which might limit your options down the road. You can play your games at lower settings for now without upgrading if you're okay with that.

Yeah, I see what you're saying. I just wish AMD would release something good in that range soon.

Patience is key, but it’s tough when you want to game now!
