Why does my TV screen occasionally go black when connected to my PC?

I've got a setup with a 3080 GPU, an i7-12700k processor, and 32GB of RAM, connected to a Samsung QN90A TV. I'm using a 4k/8k 120 FPS HDMI 2.1 cable that goes into the HDMI 2.1 game port on my TV to support 120 FPS. However, every now and then, the screen goes black for a few seconds, while the sound keeps playing. There are times when it's a minor annoyance, but other times it makes my system almost unusable. Sometimes the screen goes black and doesn't turn back on, while the sound keeps playing, forcing me to turn the TV off and back on to get the picture back. I've tried different HDMI cables, but that hasn't helped.

It sounds like the signal is dropping out. First off, check your resolution and refresh rate settings. Are you sure the cables are high quality? Also, try turning off VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) and FreeSync on your TV, as well as G-Sync on your PC. If it still doesn't help, consider turning off HDR and changing the Nvidia color bit depth from 10-bit to 8-bit. You might even need to lower your refresh rate or resolution as a last resort. Lastly, make sure your drivers and TV firmware are updated!

If your resolution is set to 3840 x 2160 at 120 Hz and the issue persists, that might be pushing the limits with longer cables (20 and 30 ft). Sometimes long cables can lead to signal degradation. If you don't get any response when wiggling the cable, it could be a deeper issue. I recommend testing with shorter cables if possible, and make sure to update your HDMI cable to a certified high-speed model.
