Hey everyone! I recently grabbed an ultrawide monitor on sale, and now I'm excited to build a stationary PC to replace my laptop. I'm planning to start with a second-hand AM4 setup and eventually switch to AM5 once the RAM prices stabilize. I'm eyeing a Ryzen 7 7800X3D or something newer down the line. Here's what I've got on my build list so far:
- RTX 5070 TI (not sure which model yet)
- Ryzen 5 5600
- B550 Gigabyte GAMING X V2 (or something similar depending on availability)
- Case (still undecided, maybe something from Krux)
- DDR4 RAM, 32GB, minimum 3200MHz
- PD Preyon Eagle Power Gold 750W (probably)
- CPU Cooler Endorfy Fera 5
- 1-2 TB M.2 SSD (still deciding)
Is this a solid setup? Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated!

AM4 still holds up really well, but since you’re considering future upgrades, I’d recommend going for the AM5 route from the get-go. A 9600X with a B650 board might cost you a bit more up front, but it will save you from needing to change your B550 board later.
You might want to consider investing a bit more in the Ryzen 5 5600X instead of the standard 5600. The extra performance could be worth it, especially if you plan to use this PC for a while!
Is it really worth the extra cash? I'm thinking it's just a temporary CPU for a little over a year. What do you think?

Nah, RAM prices, especially for DDR5, are just crazy right now. If I could hold off, I would, but I really need to get a PC soon.
