I'm putting together a new PC with an RTX 5070 and a Ryzen 7 7800X3D in a Corsair 3500X case. Initially, I decided to use a Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 air cooler for the CPU, but I found some RAM (Fury Beast Expo RGB) that is 44mm tall, which got me thinking about switching to water cooling for better aesthetics. However, I've heard mixed reviews from others here, particularly that water coolers can have issues over time and might be noisier compared to air coolers. I'm wondering if there are reliable, quiet water coolers out there that won't give me problems in the future. What do you all think?

I've been using an AIO for years now, and I haven't had any major issues. My 10-year-old AIO is still chugging along, just a bit low on coolant due to evaporation, but no leaks. You can get good AIOs for affordable prices, and often they perform better than air coolers. It really comes down to how much you value looks versus reliability, but I'd say go for what feels right to you!
When it comes to AIO coolers, you often add points of potential failure, like pump issues or leaks, which you wouldn’t have with air coolers. Air coolers like my Noctua D14 last for years with nothing really going wrong aside from possibly the fans which can be replaced. A good air cooler should keep things cool just fine, and they're usually less expensive too. But, if you're set on aesthetics and don't mind the risks, an AIO can still work well—just keep in mind they can have a limited lifespan due to evaporating coolant.

True, performance is great, but I still prefer air coolers—they last forever and are generally quieter.
