How can I tell if my Micro SD card is counterfeit?

I think I might have received a counterfeit micro SD card. I ordered a 1TB card on eBay for $60, which seemed reasonable, but I got a 2TB card instead. I ran H2testw on it, and the results were concerning:

- 7.2GB OK (15207934 sectors)
- 732.9GB DATA LOST (1537036802 sectors)

It showed errors like 'Error reading file' and 'The media is likely to be defective.' I'm worried that I might be stuck with a fraudulent product and will have to report this on eBay. Can anyone help confirm my suspicions?

The fact that it showed up as a 2TB card signals that it’s definitely a scam. Avoid those kinds of purchases next time. Too many scammers out there. Always double-check the source!

Honestly, if it came from eBay, it’s probably a fake. There are too many counterfeit cards out there. Stick to major retailers or buy directly from manufacturers.

Sounds like you might have dodged a bullet by discovering this early! Just ensure that, in the future, if you buy from places like Amazon, check that the seller is Amazon itself, not a third party.

Yeah, it really doesn’t sound good. When it comes to micro SD cards, buying online can be risky. I'd suggest purchasing directly from reputable retailers to avoid fakes.

It looks like you definitely received a modified drive. Those numbers tell the whole story – you essentially have an 8GB card that’s been tampered with to make it appear as 1TB. I recommend reporting the fraud to eBay and requesting a refund. You might also want to run some other tests, like ValidDrive, for more evidence.
