Help! My PC Shows a Black Screen in BIOS

I'm having an issue with my PC where I can't see anything on the screen while trying to access the BIOS or boot options. Yesterday, when I attempted to check these settings, the screen went completely black except for a line at the top that looks like the BIOS interface. I've tried getting advice online but I'm stuck since I can't remove the coin battery, and I also don't have a DVI cable to switch ports. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Is the battery in your PC aging? Sometimes older batteries can cause weird issues with BIOS. Just checking since you mentioned the PC is only about two years old.

No, I’ve only had this PC for two years, so everything is pretty new.

Have you done anything different since it was last working properly? For example, did you move any hardware around or install updates? Also, do you use more than one monitor? That could change how the BIOS displays.

I only have one monitor, didn’t change any hardware, and I don’t remember any recent updates.

You’ve got to hit the right key quickly after you power it on. Try repeatedly pressing Esc, F1-F12, or Del right after turning the PC back on. I had a similar issue recently where it only showed the boot menu, so keep pressing those keys until you see something.

I can get into the BIOS and boot options just fine, but the screen is still completely black whenever I try to view them!

If you have an HDMI port on your motherboard, you could try connecting your monitor there instead of using a graphics card. If it works, check for any available BIOS updates. If not, you might need to get an older GPU to make updates if your CPU doesn’t have integrated graphics.

The monitor is already on HDMI, and I do have integrated graphics in my CPU. How do I go about updating the BIOS? The date listed is from 2022.
