Hey there! I was planning to build my own PC, but when I visited a store, I found that prebuilt PCs are surprisingly cheaper. I found one that I really like, but the case is not my favorite. I'm curious if it's easy to buy the PC and then transfer the components into a case that I prefer. I know it might sound a bit silly, but I want this setup to last me another 8 years. I haven't upgraded since 2017. Also, has anyone had experience with prebuilt PCs from Micro Center? Thanks!

Micro Center and most small to medium-sized brands use off-the-shelf or minimally customized components. I helped move a friend's CyberpowerPC into a new case, and it was just as straightforward as a fully custom build. If you consider something from Dell or HP, though, you might have a tough time trying to switch cases.
Generally, the bigger the brand, the more challenging it can be. Big-name companies often use custom and obscure hardware. In contrast, smaller brands typically use standard, off-the-shelf parts, making them easier to work with.
Are you looking at a Powerspec computer, which is Micro Center's house brand? Those typically don’t use proprietary parts, so you should be able to transfer them to another case. Just double-check with them before making your purchase to be sure.

Yes, it is a Powerspec. Can you explain what proprietary parts mean? Does it affect the warranty?
