I'm a bit worried about my new Crucial Pro DDR5 32GB RAM kit that runs at 6400MHz (CL38). I've heard mixed things about whether it will crash my PC, so I'm wondering if I should lower the MHz for better stability. My setup includes an MSI B850 Gaming Plus WiFi motherboard and a Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 9070 XT. Should I be looking at returning it if it doesn't work right away?

The 6400MHz speed can either work or not, depending on your CPU's RAM controller, the motherboard connections, and how well the RAM itself is manufactured. While it's a reasonable speed, there are no guarantees. The RAM probably isn’t on the motherboard’s compatibility list since new RAM kits are constantly coming out with slightly different specs. If it doesn’t work at first, you might have to drop the speed or try to use a slower EXPO profile. Just know that the performance difference between 6400 and something like 4800 is likely minimal. Some users have reported running it at 6000MHz without issues, which may be easier to manage for newcomers.

But isn't setting it to 6000MHz challenging? I've heard mixed reviews about that. Plus, I’ve seen a bunch of people on PCPartPicker using 6400 RAM without any problems.
