Can I Connect an External SSD Internally?

I'm looking for advice on how to connect my Samsung T7 2TB SSD internally in my gaming PC. My wife has been using it as a second HDD for our Steam library, and while I originally thought about cloning the SSD to an internal drive, the prices have made me reconsider. I'm curious if there are any significant downsides to using the T7 in this way, especially regarding transfer speeds since she's currently using it via USB 3. Also, will using it like this affect its lifespan compared to a regular 2.5" SATA SSD? My motherboard is a Gigabyte B850M Gaming X Wifi6e. Thanks for any tips!

You can't connect the T7 internally without a compatible USB header on your motherboard. While it's possible to use an internal USB adapter, it's not ideal since it's basically the same as using the front USB ports on your case. If you're considering alternatives, investing in a SATA or NVMe SSD might be a better long-term choice, even if it's pricier right now. Essentially, the main drawback to using the T7 this way is that you're still limited to its USB interface.

Thanks for the info! I was thinking about using an adapter for internal headers, but if I'm just using USB anyway, I might as well get a new SSD.
