Hey everyone! I've been gaming on Xbox for over a decade and I'm finally ready to take the plunge into PC gaming by building my own computer. However, I'm pretty new to all this and don't have much knowledge about PC components. I know I need a case, monitor, keyboard, and mouse, but I'm wondering what else I should keep in mind before I start buying parts. Are there any common beginner mistakes or traps that I should avoid?

Honestly, I wouldn't recommend building a PC right now due to high prices. Are you switching from consoles for a specific reason?
Make sure to familiarize yourself with resolution, refresh rate, and frames per second. Those factors will impact performance significantly, and understanding them will help you choose the right setup for your needs.
It might be worth your while to learn about PCs for a few weeks first. Given the current market, be prepared to spend quite a bit of money on parts.
If you can, consider buying a pre-built system instead of building your own right now. Prices for components are climbing, and a pre-built might save you money in the long run.
I suggest waiting for RAM prices to drop before diving in. It's currently not a great time to buy.

Yeah, I'm tired of paying for subscriptions and really want the ability to stream and mod games.
