What does the extra switch on my desktop’s power supply do?

I recently bought a desktop for my son, and I've noticed there are two switches on the back. One of them is the PSU switch, but I'm curious about the other on/off switch located just below it. When I was at the store, they explained it quickly, but I can't remember what it was for, and now I'm feeling anxious about connecting everything. Here are some specs: it has an AM5 High-End Motherboard with an AMD Ryzen 7 CPU, 64GB of DDR5 RAM, a high-end RGB water cooler, a RX 7900 XTX graphics card, and a 1200W 80 Plus Gold power supply housed in a high-end gaming case.

That second switch is likely for a fan mode, like "Zero RPM" or "Eco Mode". With your high-end supply, it'll keep the fan off when you're just doing light tasks to reduce noise.

That extra switch is just a power switch for the power supply. It’s best to keep it in the 'on' position while you’re using the computer.

Agreed! I only switch mine off if I need to disconnect everything or move the PC.

Honestly, just plug it in and give it a go. If it doesn’t turn on, toggle that switch and try again. It won’t damage anything.

The power supply switch can remain on all the time. Just remember to turn it off when you're plugging or unplugging the power cable from the wall.
