Hey folks! I have a laptop running Windows 11 Pro, and I mainly use Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge for browsing and downloading files. Lately, I've been running into a ton of popup ads, redirect pages, and fake download buttons when I try to download stuff. It's super frustrating and makes things feel unsafe.
I want to block all ads, especially those annoying pop-ups and redirects. Here's what I've tried so far:
- Installed AdBlock, but I still see some ads and redirects.
- Enabled Chrome's built-in pop-up blocker.
- Tried to avoid clicking on any sketchy links, but some ads just pop up automatically.
So, I'm looking for suggestions:
- What's the best ad blocker or setup for Chrome and Edge on Windows?
- Is there a system-wide ad blocker that works better than just browser extensions?
Thanks for any tips!

I've been using uBlock Origin Lite along with Pi-hole in a container, and it's been running perfectly for me. If you're tech-savvy, it's a solid setup!
You might want to look into the Malwarebytes browser extension too. It can help block not just ads, but also potential malware from popping up while you browse.
If you’re still being bombarded by pop-ups, check your Edge settings. You might have accidentally allowed pop-ups somewhere in there. Make sure to disable all permissions for them.
I had AdBlock before but found it wasn't doing the job anymore. I switched to uBlock Origin, and it blocks about 99% of ads, even on sites like YouTube. It's been a game changer for me!
I've used AdBlock before, and while it's okay, I don’t think there's any ad blocker that completely eliminates all ads. Just know you might still see a few here and there. However, it works decently for most of my needs.

How do I really make it work effectively?
