I'm planning to rebuild my PC because my motherboard is slowly dying and is quite outdated. Currently, I have an Intel Core i7-7700 CPU running at 3.60 GHz, 16 GB RAM (two 8 GB sticks), an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, a 1000 Watt power supply, and the GIGABYTE GA-H110M-2SH motherboard that needs replacing. I'm looking for suggestions on which parts to combine for my new build, aiming for something future-proof without overspending or making mistakes. I'd like to upgrade to the AM5 platform, and my budget is flexible as long as the components are good for gaming as well as running some simulation programs on the side.

I would steer clear of Intel; the LGA1700 is reaching its end of life, and the 1851 chips aren't anything too exciting. AM5 should be great for your needs, especially the 7600 for gaming. If budget allows, doubling your RAM to 32GB could be beneficial, especially for simulations. As for your RTX 3080 Ti, it’s solid and should serve you well for a good few years, particularly at 1080p if that’s your target FPS.
If you have a flexible budget, I'd suggest going for something like the 9800X3D or possibly waiting for the upcoming 9950X3D, combined with 48GB of RAM (2x24GB DDR5) and an RTX 5090. For more economical options, consider modern i5/i7 processors and you might even be able to reuse your current RAM. But for a high-end build, look into the 7800X3D or 9800X3D. As for GPUs, options like the 5070 or 9080 could work well too!
I’m considering the AMD X870 motherboard, but some say it’s overkill. Would you suggest a different option, or is it worth going ahead?

Thanks for the recommendations, I'll definitely check those parts out!
