I'm an adult trying to buy a GoodNotes subscription, but it keeps requiring my dad to authorize the payment. Even though family sharing should be disabled, I still can't make purchases without asking him for permission, which is frustrating. I want to buy things on my own without having to involve him or make it seem like I'm constantly asking him for money. Is there a way to make my own purchases without this issue?

You have the option to choose what you're sharing with your family when you set up family sharing. If purchase sharing is off, they shouldn’t be able to buy things that you’re paying for. You can keep Apple Music, iCloud, and Apple TV active without affecting purchases. Just make sure purchase sharing is turned off for your account to avoid any costs going through your dad.
If it's asking for permission, that's likely the 'Ask to Buy' feature. This is often only for child accounts. You might want to double-check your settings to ensure you're set up as an adult account; that should remove the need for approval. Interesting question! Is there a way to maintain purchase sharing for some members but exclude others? That could solve issues like this without everyone needing to pay for everything.

I get that! But even though I'm set up as an adult, I still have to get a code sent to my dad for purchases. It's like he still ends up being involved in every little payment. I wish there was a way to keep it private!
