I have a SanDisk SD card that has all of my essential files from 2020 to 2024, including important videos. Recently, when I attached the SD card to my Samsung Android phone, I got a notification saying the SD card isn't working properly and it's set to read-only to prevent data loss. While I managed to transfer most files, the bigger video files (1-2 GB each) keep giving me errors during transfer. I can play these videos without any issues on my phone, but transferring them to internal storage or even to my Windows computer has failed multiple times. These videos are very significant for me, and I'm looking for safe suggestions to retrieve them from this corrupted SD card. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

To get those videos off the SD card, try using a computer with a card reader instead of your phone. Phones can sometimes have unreliable connections for large data transfers. If you don’t have a built-in card reader, consider getting one. They’re pretty inexpensive and can help you access all the files directly, which might make the transfer easier. Once you have the files on your computer, you can back them up safely from there.
If those videos are crucial, you might need to consider other transfer methods. Once you get them onto a computer, ensure you make backups in multiple locations. You can also try transferring the cleaned-up files to the phone using cloud storage or a different method after you get them off the SD card. Just keep the SD card in mind as unreliable from now on—don't trust it anymore for important data!
I agree, this SD card seems pretty much done for. I'm hoping I can save the videos before it completely fails.
I’ve been in a similar situation before. When transferring important files, it's always safer to use a computer rather than relying on a phone. If possible, try to get the files to a friend’s computer if yours isn’t working. Just make sure to keep several backups once you access them! Also, if the SD card is failing, maybe consider looking into professional data recovery services as a last resort.
Thanks for the advice! I’ve been thinking about getting a new SD card anyway since this one seems unreliable. Hopefully, I won't need professional recovery!

Thanks for the tip! I’ll definitely look into getting a card reader. Should I be concerned about losing the videos altogether if the SD card is corrupted, though?
