I'm currently gaming with a 3060 12GB while playing iRacing and LeMans Ultimate on three 1080p monitors. I'm considering upgrading to a 3080 10GB, which seems to be the best card in my budget at the moment. My main concern is whether I'll run out of VRAM at max settings since I typically use about 7.6GB during intense racing conditions, and I sometimes dip into the 50s for framerate. When I'm solo in qualifying, I can hit over 100fps. Does this upgrade sound like a good move? I can't afford a 4070 right now.

About your VRAM concerns: You’re currently maxing out at nearly 8GB, which means that moving to 10GB is a better safety net, especially during busy scenes. The difference in performance should be noticeable, particularly if you want to maintain higher framerates during races.
Upgrading to the 3080 is a solid choice, especially for 1080p gaming. It's definitely worth it and even performs well at 1440p. If you’re already hitting around 8GB usage, the 10GB on the 3080 should be more than enough for your games, especially if you're looking for smoother performance.
So, 10GB should be good enough for max settings?

Right, sounds reassuring! Thanks for the insight.
