I'm in a tough spot and really need some advice. My wife's iPhone has been hacked, and it seems like someone has complete control over her device. We've had tech support look into it, and they noted that someone is mirroring her screen and, incredibly, has even managed to change all her passwords. No matter what we do, he keeps taking control. We've contacted Apple multiple times and have reset her passwords while enabling two-factor authentication, but she can only hold access for about an hour before he locks her out again. We filed a police report and even reached out to the FBI's cybercrimes unit.
This hacker has accessed pictures from our iPad and saved them to her phone, and he's even put restrictions on her phone that prevent her from using basic features like the hotspot.
At this point, we're considering a factory reset on her iPhone, but we're not sure if that will truly help. Some people suggest switching to Android instead since it seems like Apple isn't acknowledging that this can happen. We just want to know what our best course of action is. Any suggestions?

You should definitely perform a factory reset on her phone. This will help remove any malicious software that might be installed. After that, change the passwords for all accounts that were accessed with that device, and make sure to enable two-factor authentication on everything important. Just double-check that no one else has access to her Apple ID before you set the phone up again.

Thanks! The issue is she’s been stuck waiting over an hour just to reset it because of the restrictions he placed on her phone. It feels like he’s got everything mirrored!
