Locked Out of My iPad Despite Knowing the Passcode

I'm having trouble accessing my iPad even though I know my passcode. I'm not sure which model it is, but I bought it from the Apple Store last year and it's yellow. I've entered my passcode so many times that I might get locked out, and I'm nervous because I have important art projects stored on it. I also have my fingerprint set up, but it won't let me unlock it using that either. Why can't I just use my fingerprint to unlock the device or change my passcode? If I wait for 24 hours, will my attempts reset? I really don't want to lose my projects!

Definitely contact Apple if you're stuck. Just have your purchase receipt ready. They'll help you with the passcode issue, but know that they can't retrieve any unbacked data for you. It’s for security. Stay persistent with your attempts, and hopefully, it’ll work!

It sounds frustrating! Unfortunately, if your passcode isn’t working, you might be entering it incorrectly. If your device loses power or there are too many failed biometric attempts, the passcode is required for security purposes. You can reset it with your Apple ID if the iPad is registered to you. Just be aware that anything not backed up could be lost, so be careful. If necessary, Apple can help you unlock it, but that won’t retain your data.

I get that can be super stressful with projects on the line! Unfortunately, unless you can remember the correct passcode, you'll have to reach out to Apple for help. They can unlock it for you if you provide proof of purchase, but keep in mind that this process typically involves wiping the device clean. So make sure you’ve backed up your stuff if you can!
