I'm currently building a PC, but I've hit a snag with rising RAM prices. I had a budget set, and my parents were planning to chip in to help out, but now they need to contribute more than expected. My dream has always been to build the most powerful PC I can, and here's what I'm looking at so far:
- Motherboard: Asus ROG Crosshair X870E Extreme
- CPU: Ryzen 9 9950X3D
- RAM: Originally 64 GB, but I might need to scale back due to costs
- Storage: 4 TB SSD Samsung 9100 Pro
- GPU: 9070XT, specifically wanting one with the best cooler I can find
This PC is mainly for high school, as I'm a programmer (about to turn 16), and I also plan to do rendering and other demanding tasks, so performance is key. Additionally, I want to use it for 2k gaming. If anyone has tips or suggestions, I would really appreciate it!

First off, it looks like a lot of effort went into that post, but the punctuation was a bit of a challenge! Anyway, I'm not saying it's a troll or anything, but your setup sounds pretty intense. Just make sure you really need that $1000 motherboard—there might be better options out there without breaking the bank!
Make sure to check if you can get a lower generation SSD, or consider a SATA option to save some cash. For RAM, instead of going all out now, think about starting with 2 x 16GB sticks. You can always add more later if your motherboard has enough slots. Also, unless you're planning to overclock, a B650 motherboard should work just fine. Oh, and you probably don't need the absolute best cooler for the 9070XT or the CPU unless you’re really pushing for those extra speeds.
Honestly, you might want to reconsider spending so much on that motherboard. Is it really necessary for your build? There are great alternatives at a fraction of the price that should perform just as well for your needs.
