Can I Use Old PSU Cables with a New Power Supply?

I'm looking to update my PC and I'm wondering about using cables from my old power supply. The rule of thumb is to only use the cables that come with your new power supply for safety reasons. However, I have a set of modular cables that I used with my old Corsair RM 750x and I'm thinking about reusing them for my new NZXT C1000.

My current PSU is fully modular, and I've been using it for over six years with compatible cables that I bought at the same time. I want to know if anyone has experience or knowledge about reusing these cables safely. I've heard that some people have had success doing this, but I want to make sure I'm not taking unnecessary risks. Has anyone looked into this or can provide insights?

It's probably not a good idea to mix and match cables. Different versions of the NZXT power supply use different connectors, and there's no guarantee that the pinouts are the same, so you might end up damaging your components. I recommend checking a compatibility list before trying it out. Better safe than sorry!

Yeah, it's really a gamble. I'd suggest just using the cables that come with the new PSU. You won't regret it!

Honestly, just don't do it. There are too many risks involved, and it's not worth potentially frying your components. Stick with the new PSU's cables for peace of mind!

Nope, big no! It’s just asking for trouble. Let the old cables go and use the ones that came with the new PSU; it’s much safer.

Unless you have a multimeter and can verify that each pin aligns properly with the voltage outputs, I’d steer clear of using those cables. Even if some people have gotten lucky, it's risky business. You could end up with some serious problems quickly if there’s a mismatch.
