I'm in the market for an RTX 5070 for a new build and noticed that the overclocked versions are priced about $30 lower than the regular ones. Shouldn't the factory overclocked versions perform better? Additionally, I've found that PNY is the most affordable option. Are their cards as reliable as those from other manufacturers?

Keep in mind that factory overclocking isn't as significant anymore. Nearly all modern cards can boost themselves, leading to similar performance across models. If you can avoid it, steer clear of ASUS; there have been some complaints about their warranty lately.
It's pretty much a case of market dynamics. Sometimes the overclocked models are just discounted to clear inventory, even if they offer better performance. Just choose one that aligns with your cooling needs instead of focusing solely on overclocking. Also, keep an eye on performance reviews!
PNY has a solid reputation and has been around for a long time. It's smart to compare warranty details across different brands since that can be a game-changer down the line.
PNY’s consumer GPUs are quite reliable and they have plenty of experience with commercial cards.
I've always leaned towards OC editions for a bit of extra performance and generally better cooling. Nevertheless, many of the standard RTX 5070s, like the PNY, have impressive cooling too. I've heard great things about their products!
Honestly, the graphics card market can be really confusing. Just go for the cheapest option that satisfies your requirements. Most of them are quite similar in performance.

How can I tell which GPUs have poor cooling?
