Help! My Monitor Says HDMI Not Detected and I Can’t Figure Out Why

I need some help with my PC setup. My brother was playing games on it when the monitor suddenly turned off. When I turned the PC back on, the monitor showed 'HDMI not detected'. I thought it was an issue with my HDMI cable, so I bought a new one and tried again, but still no luck. Then, I tested my monitor with a friend's working setup, and the same 'HDMI not detected' message came up. I built this PC about a month ago, and while most of the parts are new (like the motherboard, RAM, and power supply), the graphics card is used. Here are my specs if they help:

- Ryzen 5 5600x (new)
- Gigabyte B450M DS3H (new)
- EVGA RTX 3060 Ti (used)
- 650W PSU (new)
- 16GB RAM (new)

The PC turns on, but the mouse and keyboard don't respond, and the monitor keeps saying 'HDMI not found'. I'm really anxious since this is my first build and it's cost me a lot. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Have you tried swapping out the HDMI cables? Sometimes, one cable can be faulty even if it looks fine at first glance.

Yeah, I tried that already but it didn't change anything.

It sounds like your system isn't posting, which means there might be a hardware issue. If your keyboard isn't lighting up when you toggle the CAPS/SCROLL/NUM lock, that's a telltale sign. Here's what you can try:

1. Reset the BIOS by removing the CMOS battery and shorting the + and - on the socket for about 5-6 seconds, then power it on again.

2. If that doesn't help, disconnect everything from the motherboard except for the CPU, the cooler/fan, the 24-pin power supply cable, and the 4/8-pin CPU power. If everything's good, you should get a missing RAM error. And just a heads up—make sure your motherboard beeper is connected to the appropriate header for diagnostic beeping.

Thanks for the advice! I have no experience in this but I’ll ask a friend for help.
