I'm currently using a markdown file to jot down interesting code snippets, functions, and machine learning procedures. While it does the job, I'm thinking there must be something better out there. I keep this in a personal GitHub repository so I can access it from anywhere. What do you use for note-taking, and what do you like about it?

Using GitHub for your notes is actually pretty smart! It gives you version control, which is a great way to keep track of changes and access your notes across devices.

If you're looking for alternatives, you might want to check out Joplin. It's free and open-source. Another option is Logseq; I found it great for moving away from OneNote and it works across different platforms.

I do most of my note-taking on my tablet with a stylus. Samsung Notes is fantastic for its features and interface. Before I had a tablet, I used to take physical notes and then print digital versions when needed.

I highly recommend Obsidian! It supports markdown for notes, and you can also utilize tags, links, and various plugins. If I need to write something quickly and it's not too important, I just use a text document. But for serious stuff, Obsidian is my go-to.

I've tried about every note-taking system out there, but I eventually settled on a single org-mode file for journaling. Each day's notes go at the top, and I can search them easily by adding titles and tags. For visual notes, I use Obsidian. And on my phone, I keep a general note where I dump anything useful and review it on weekends.
