I'm a university student who recently switched to Linux Mint on my HP laptop. It's great, and my computer is running much faster now! However, I need to find a note-taking app that can sync between my laptop and phone—or at least between these two devices. Right now, I'm using Rnote, which I enjoy, but I'm really missing that sync feature. It's super convenient, especially when I forget my charger or don't have my laptop with me (which happens quite a bit due to my ADHD). Any suggestions?

Have you tried Google Keep? It's a simple app that works great for notes and syncs across devices seamlessly.
I've been using Joplin, and it's free if you bring your own sync storage. It doesn’t support Google Drive directly, which might be an issue for some.
Obsidian and Notion are both solid options, but I'm personally a fan of Obsidian as well. You can get a cloud drive like PCloud to save your data online, or pay for Obsidian's sync feature.
My university had a good WiFi connection for students, so I just used Google Docs for everything.
I use DS Note with a Synology NAS, which lets me sync my notes across my PC, tablet, and phone. If you're interested in alternatives, Nextcloud has similar syncing capabilities. Alternatively, you could go for any note app and just connect it to Google Drive or another cloud service for syncing.
Obsidian is an amazing choice! It does charge $8 for the sync feature, but the rest of the app has a ton of free features. Just a heads up, you'll need to learn how to write in Markdown (.MD files) to get the best experience.

I agree about Obsidian! My syncing plan is actually $5. They might offer student discounts too, but double-check just in case. It's versatile, so you can use it as simply or as deeply as you want.
