Can I Connect a 6-Pin Power Cable to an 8-Pin PCIe Slot on a HDPlex PSU?

I'm working on setting up a HDD bay with a HDPlex PSU, and I've encountered a question about compatibility. The HDPlex PSU has several ports: 4-pin, 8-pin CPU, 8-pin PCIe, and motherboard. The HDD bay I have uses 4-pin Molex cables for power. I've found a couple of 4-pin Molex power cables, but my main concern is whether it's safe to plug a 6-pin cable into the 8-pin PCIe port. If that's not advisable, are there any alternative options I should consider?

It's best to stick with the cables that came with your PSU. The connectors on the PSU side aren’t standardized, and if you use the wrong pin configuration, it might damage your devices. It's not worth the risk!

I hear you! The HDD bay didn't come with any cables, so I'll definitely have to look at my options. Thanks for the heads up!
