Hey everyone, I recently upgraded my PC by adding 16GB of DDR4 RAM, and I'm running into some serious issues. I originally had 32GB of CORSAIR VENGEANCE LPX DDR4 3600MHZ (two 16GB sticks) in my setup. The new RAM I added is a different brand and speed: two 8GB sticks of AX4U300938GB16A-BB10 DDR4 3000 MHz. My PC specs include a 5070 TI GPU, an AMD RYZEN 7 5800X CPU, and an ASUS TUF GAMING X570-plus motherboard. After adding the new RAM, everything seemed fine initially; basic programs like sticky notes and notepad started responding slowly, but I could still play Kingdom Come: Deliverance without issues for two hours. Then I tried to shut down the PC, and it took 10 minutes just to get to the shutdown screen. After a hard power cycle and disabling DOCP in the BIOS, I couldn't boot into Windows anymore, as it stalled on the TUF GAMING startup screen. What could be causing this?

Not all RAM is compatible, even if they have similar specs. Since your system runs fine with DOCP disabled, you might want to stick with that for now. You have two choices: just enjoy the extra RAM at the slower speed, or remove the new sticks, keep DOCP on, and go back to the faster performance.
Mixing RAM can often be problematic, especially if the sticks aren't identical. It's generally best practice to use the same brand, model, speed, and timings for stability. Your new sticks might not be playing well with your original ones, which can lead to all these issues.
Yeah, you’re right, but some pairs don’t work well together at all. It can totally depend on the motherboard and configuration.

I thought mixing slower RAM would just downclock the faster ones to match. Isn't that usually how it works?
