I'm having trouble with my PC when I attempt to play videos. It just won't start them, and then it starts behaving oddly. I tried rebooting and entering my password, but it freezes on the welcome screen. I've rebooted several times and have tried various solutions without success. Now, my computer keeps going to the recovery point, insisting it needs to restart, and even Safe Mode isn't helping. At times, it does make it to the login screen, but mostly it just returns to recovery mode.

Are you sure you were trying to open a legitimate video file, and not some suspicious executable? That could be the cause of the issues you're experiencing.
Why not create a rescue disk and boot from that? It might help you get things back on track without having to reset Windows.

I thought about resetting Windows, but I'm hoping to find options that won't require that. Any other suggestions?
