Seeking Feedback on My Quiet Linux Gaming PC Upgrade

Hey everyone! I'm gearing up to upgrade my gaming desktop, which is currently running on an Intel i7-7700K, and I'm looking for some guidance. My main goal is to build a quiet gaming rig that can handle 4K gaming at around 60fps while running on Linux (specifically CachyOS or an Arch-based distro). I'm not too concerned about high refresh rates; I just want stable performance at 4K.

Here are my primary needs:
- Focused on gaming, with some occasional video encoding (but that's not urgent).
- I plan to reuse my existing DDR4 RAM (2x 16GB DDR4-3200) and might consider adding 2x 8GB later if needed.
- I'd like to move my current Linux SSD over without issues.

Here's what I have in mind for the new build:
- GPU: SPARKLE Intel Arc B580 Titan OC 12GB
- CPU: Intel Core i5-14600KF
- Motherboard: Gigabyte B760 DS3H DDR4
- RAM: 2x G.SKILL 16GB 3200 MHz (already owned)
- Cooler: be quiet! Pure Rock Pro 3
- Case: be quiet! Pure Base 501
- PSU: MSI MAG A650BN 650W 80+ Bronze (already owned, but I'll upgrade to a quieter, Gold-rated PSU later)

Are there any red flags in my setup or better alternatives for a quiet, Linux-friendly build? Also, if I decide to mix my RAM with adding 2x 8GB sticks to my existing 2x 16GB, should I expect any compatibility issues with the B760 DDR4 or is it better to just stick to 32GB? Appreciate any tips as I don't want to mess up this €700 investment!

With your target of 4K and stable 60fps, the B580 might not be up to the task based on what I've seen. You might want to strongly consider that upgrade!

Can the B580 actually handle 4K gaming with decent settings? I'm currently using the B580 for 4K gaming, and with medium presets, I'm only getting about 4-5 fps on average. Not the best performance there.

If you're aiming for a console-like quiet setup, consider switching your GPU to the AMD RX 9060 XT 16GB instead of the B580. AMD cards generally perform really well on Linux and might offer better compatibility with Steam. It could be a bit pricier, but the gaming experience could be significantly enhanced, potentially delaying your next GPU upgrade.

Mixing RAM shouldn't pose major issues, though you might not achieve the maximum speed; going with quad DIMM configurations can be tricky, sometimes dropping speeds by around 300MHz.

Thanks for the input! I initially went with the B580 due to its affordability at around €254. But you’re right, if I can snag the 9060 XT for under €400, it might be worth it!
