How Can I Integrate OneDrive into Linux Mint’s File Manager?

I'm transitioning to Linux as my main operating system and while I've managed to set up everything else, I'm stuck on one crucial issue: I rely on OneDrive for file storage and I need a way to access my files through applications and the file manager instead of doing it through the OneDrive website. Even my Chromebook allows OneDrive integration directly into the file manager. Is there an app or extension available that can help me integrate OneDrive with the native file manager in Linux Mint? Thanks for any suggestions!

Rclone really is your best bet. However, if you prefer a GUI experience, you might want to look into Insync. It’s a paid app but closely mimics the Windows OneDrive experience and simplifies the transition from Windows to Linux.

Just out of curiosity, why do you want this integration? There are numerous faster cloud services that integrate well with Linux without needing OneDrive. But hey, if OneDrive works for you, then I totally get wanting that seamless workflow!

Some folks simply prefer sticking with what they know. If OneDrive is a big part of their routine, having it directly in the file manager makes life easier!

If you’re running Mint with GNOME, you may already have some built-in capabilities in the "online accounts" section. Also, there's a OneDrive client for Linux that works with Cinnamon: https://github.com/abraunegg/onedrive. It's worth a try!

You should check out Rclone. It's an excellent tool for syncing and managing cloud storage like OneDrive. You can follow this tutorial video that explains how to set it up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_W0-HEVOyg. Once configured, you can even mount OneDrive as if it were just another folder on your system!

Rclone is indeed great for this. I’ve even set up a user systemd service to manage it better.

Unfortunately, Microsoft has some restrictions in place that might prevent proper integration for OneDrive across platforms like Linux. So, true integration might be a challenge now and in the future.

That’s not entirely true. Check out this client for Linux: https://github.com/abraunegg/onedrive. It might be what you need!
