Are my CPU temperatures normal, and do I need a new cooler?

I'm currently using a Ryzen 7 7800X3D along with a Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 cooler, and I'm wondering if my temperatures are within a normal range. My CPU idles at about 60°C and hits 70-75°C while gaming (I've primarily been playing League of Legends lately). I have a Fractal North mesh case, so there's decent airflow. Are those idle temps considered high, or is it typical? If they are on the high side, could anyone recommend a good cooler for an upgrade? Thanks!

I wouldn't worry too much. The 7800X3D tends to run hotter than other models due to its architecture. My 5800X3D typically idles around 40-50°C and gets to 65-70°C under load with a 240mm AIO. It seems like your cooler does an okay job, but keep an eye on it for any sudden spikes.

Your temps are perfectly fine for the 7800X3D. It's normal for this chip to run a bit hot, especially when gaming. I'd suggest sticking with your current cooler for now. If it starts hitting upper 80s or low 90s during more intensive gaming, then you might consider an upgrade, but at this point, you're all good!

Those temps are expected for a Ryzen 7 7800X3D. Given the design, it can manage higher temperatures without any issue. If you're looking for better cooling in the future, consider a 360mm AIO cooler—those can lower your temps significantly, but right now, you're in a safe zone.

At 75°C during gaming, that's actually on the cooler side for this chip. It’s designed to boost until 89°C, so you have plenty of headroom. If changing the cooler crosses your mind, just keep an eye on how your CPU behaves under stress. For now, I'd say you're good to go!

Thanks for the reassurance! I'll keep watching the temps as I play more demanding games.

Your idle temperature seems a bit high to me, but it’s within normal limits for this CPU. On the other hand, it might help to improve airflow in your case if you haven't already. Adding additional fans could make a difference if you decide to push your CPU harder in the future.
