How can I play a DVD on my computer without that annoying spyware app?

I'm trying to watch a DVD for class, but when I insert it into my drive, this PCfriendly app keeps popping up, urging me to install it. I prefer to use VLC to play my movies, but this is getting in the way. Is there a way to bypass this and get straight to watching the DVD without having to install that old software? I appreciate any help!

It sounds like you might have some malware issues. You could try running a Malwarebytes scan. If this is on a school-issued computer, contacting IT might be your best bet since they can help fix it for you.

Another option is to close the unwanted player and just go to 'Open Disk' in VLC. If it gives you an error, it would be helpful to take a screenshot of it.

Here's a quick workaround: right-click the DVD in File Explorer and try to mount it as its own drive. Then just open VLC and select that drive. You should be able to watch the movie without any issues.

Absolutely! You might not even need to mount it. Just right-click the DVD in 'This PC' and select 'Open' to access the files directly. Copying them to your HDD/SSD will speed things up when playing with VLC.

You should be able to play your DVD directly with VLC. If it’s giving you trouble, consider using HandBrake to convert the DVD into a video file first. It's a straightforward process and it works great for this kind of thing!
