Looking to Upgrade My CPU Without Switching to DDR5 RAM

I'm currently using an Intel Core i7-10700K and I'm considering an upgrade. I'm interested in recent CPUs, but I'd like to avoid DDR5 RAM since I already have 32GB of DDR4. I've thought about going with a Ryzen CPU, but I've noticed that they mostly require DDR5. Given the current market prices, I'm not eager to buy new RAM. Ideally, I'm looking for a high-end CPU as I'm also planning to upgrade my GPU from a 5070 in the near future.

You might consider upgrading to an Intel i7-11700K if you want to keep things simple and don’t mind picking up a slightly better performance. However, it won't offer a huge leap over your current CPU. If you’re looking to spend a bit more, you could also get a DDR4-compatible LGA1700 motherboard and opt for a higher-end CPU from Intel's 12th or 13th generation, which would give you a nice boost without having to change your RAM.

Getting a Z690 or Z790 motherboard that supports DDR4 would allow you to run the i5-14600K. It's a great option if you're looking to stick with DDR4 while getting a modern CPU.

If you want to stay with Intel, the i7-14700K is a solid choice that supports DDR4. If you're leaning towards AMD, the Ryzen 5000 series is the last to support DDR4, so something like the 5800X could give you around a 25% performance increase. Honestly, though, I’d suggest overclocking your current 10700K. I have a similar setup and got mine up to 5.0GHz with some tuning, providing a nice performance boost for free.
