I've got a Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga 2nd gen that I picked up secondhand a couple of years ago. It runs on an Intel Core i5-7300U with 8GB of LPDDR3 RAM and Intel HD Graphics 620. Unfortunately, it struggles with most modern AAA games, which is a bummer since I'm a gamer. I'm wondering if there's anything I can do to optimize it a bit so I can at least play some games like Valorant or Genshin Impact. I'm not planning to upgrade anytime soon, so any helpful tips would be appreciated!

Unfortunately, with 8GB of RAM and an integrated graphics card, you're pretty limited. You might get lucky with some less demanding or older games, but more recent titles will definitely be a stretch, especially if you want to enjoy them at good settings. Linux gaming could be an option, but keep in mind you won't be able to play Valorant on that system.
Not much you can do for that one, honestly. It's mainly set up for casual use and won't handle current games well. If you're keen on gaming, maybe stick to older titles or find some lighter indie games that run on integrated graphics.
Honestly, there's only so much you can do with that laptop. The integrated GPU is a big drawback, and to upgrade it, you'd have to replace the entire motherboard, which probably wouldn't even help much since it’s not designed for gaming. However, you could try adding more RAM if possible, make sure you have a decent SSD, and perform a wipe and fresh install of your operating system. If you want to stick with the current setup, you'll need to lower the graphics settings in games a lot to get them to run smoothly.
