How Can I Prepare for My Interview on PeopleSoft?

I'm a sophomore majoring in Computer Science and I've got an interview this week for a position focused on PeopleSoft, particularly in access control and security administration. I'm not sure what the interviewers expect for someone at my level since I don't have prior experience with PeopleSoft, but I definitely want to show that I'm somewhat knowledgeable. I do have some background in computer networking and cybersecurity, like up to CCNA, but I'm not sure how relevant that is here.

I need some tips about the following acronyms that I believe are components of PeopleSoft:

- HCM
- FMS (I'm guessing this is FSCM? Any clarification would be helpful!)
- Campus Solutions
- Enterprise Portal

Also, if you know any resources like videos or websites that could give me hands-on experience, that would be really helpful!

So, it sounds like you’re interviewing for an application admin role. HCM and Campus Solutions are parts of the PeopleSoft ecosystem, while Enterprise Portal is basically a user interface for navigating access. If by FMS, you mean FSCM, it refers to Financial Management Solutions. In your role, you’ll mostly be responsible for granting and revoking permissions, which is pretty straightforward but can get tricky depending on the organization’s size. I'd suggest checking out Oracle's YouTube channel for PeopleSoft content and definitely dive into PeopleBooks, which is the official documentation. It's all publicly available and incredibly useful! Good luck with the interview!

Thanks for breaking that down! I'll definitely look up PeopleBooks right away.

Good point about the YouTube channel, I’ll check that out too!

It's true that security admin roles are critical, and they usually prefer candidates with some experience. However, since this job is aimed at sophomores and juniors, they might be willing to train you. I recommend skimming through this guide: https://redresscompliance.com/peoplesoft-for-dummies-a-guide-for-beginners/. It’ll give you a better understanding of PeopleSoft's basics and what you'd need to know for the job. Best of luck in your interview, and be ready to show your willingness to learn!

Got it, I’ll study that guide for sure. Thanks!

Ah, I can relate! I once went to Boston for PeopleSoft training but ended up missing all the classes for some unexpected adventures. Life happens, right? But on a serious note, just stay calm and be honest about what you know and what you're willing to learn. You might be surprised by how accommodating they can be!

Haha, sounds like an unforgettable trip! Thanks for the encouragement!
