Is It Time to Switch from ASRock 7900XT to a Better 4K Gaming GPU?

I just experienced my first graphics card failure ever, going from a 970 to a 1070 to a 3060ti to finally the 7900XT. I'm feeling a bit uneasy about sticking with AMD due to this issue. While I'm considering whether I should return to NVIDIA, I find the 5070ti to be overpriced. I'm curious if the 9070 XT is significantly better than the 5070? Any suggestions on brands to avoid or advice would be really appreciated!

How exactly did your 7900XT die? Just curious if there were any warning signs?

The 9070 XT is a step up and would perform significantly better for 4K gaming with more VRAM than the 5070. If the 5070 Ti feels too pricy, then the 9070 XT is definitely worth considering. Regarding brands, it's best to stick to well-known ones like Asus, MSI, or Gigabyte. If reliability is key for you, going back to NVIDIA might be a viable option.

For AMD cards, I’ve had better luck with brands like Sapphire, XFX, and PowerColor over even Asus or Gigabyte. MSI barely does AMD products.

I was playing Rivals when the screen started glitching and then went completely black. It crashed once before, and I had to reinstall the drivers to get it recognized. I even noticed it making some whining sounds for a while but ignored them. It's only about 2 years and 4 months old!

You should definitely look into getting a warranty replacement for your 7900XT. Free repairs are way better than shelling out cash for a new card. If the replacement fails, then you can consider upgrading permanently after getting another warranty on it.

That's a solid point! I didn't realize there was a three-year warranty on GPUs.

Do you think they’ll actually replace it? I hope they have stock!

RMA it, sell it, and you can use that money to get the 9070 XT with a bit more investment.

Any recommendations on where to sell used GPUs? I’m not sure if I want to upgrade if I can get the RMA, but I'm curious!
