What CPU upgrade should I consider for my setup?

I'm looking to upgrade my CPU but I don't have the time to dive deep into research. Currently, I'm using a Ryzen 5 3600 with an ASRock B550M Steel Legend motherboard, a Zotac RTX 3080 Ti GPU, and 64 GB of RAM. My power supply is 750W. I don't game a lot, but I need the performance for After Effects and 3D rendering. I want to upgrade now before CPU prices go up, and I'm aiming for something reasonably priced that performs well without being over the top. Any suggestions?

For a solid upgrade, the 5800X or even a 5800XT would be excellent. The x3D chips offer even better performance but aren’t readily available anymore, and prices for used versions are pretty high right now.

You might want to consider either the Ryzen 7 5700X or 5800X. The 5700X is typically cheaper and still provides great performance, while the 5800X offers a slight edge if you don’t mind spending a bit more. Both would work well with your setup.

Will I need to update my BIOS for this upgrade?

Yeah, the 5700X is a solid pick—it's more efficient, which is good if you're tight on power with your PSU. Just be cautious with the BIOS update; it can be risky if not done right, but many boards have safer methods these days.
