Why Are My Mac’s Network Drives Randomly Disconnecting?

I work in a mostly Windows setup, but we have a few Mac users who rely heavily on Kodak and Adobe products. Recently, they've been experiencing issues where their network share drives will randomly disconnect. This is particularly concerning because two of the users reporting the problem are currently using brand-new Macs. Another user mentioned she had similar issues until I upgraded her Mac, so I'm trying to figure out what's going on. I plan to check the network setup soon, but it's worth noting that both of the problematic Macs had WiFi disabled, while a user who previously had issues but no longer does also had WiFi disabled. I'm curious if WiFi needs to be enabled for stable network connections on Macs, and I'm also wondering why the drives don't automatically remount. I'm more familiar with Windows, so I'm hoping there's a straightforward fix for this that I'm just missing.

It sounds like a network interruption issue. I've encountered something similar before, and it usually involves removing and re-adding the credentials in KeyChain. Also, make sure the Macs are joined to the Active Directory. That way, they can connect automatically using the user credentials instead of manually mounting.

This could be related to recent MacOS updates. Apple changed the SMB implementation, and it has led to instability, especially with certain NAS devices. You might want to try disabling force signing among other workarounds you can find online. It could help resolve the dropping connections.

I haven't tried the force signing tip yet, but I’ll give it a shot. Do you know if there are specific settings in the network preferences that could be adjusted to help with this issue?
