Why is my new i5 14600k underperforming?

Hey folks, I recently upgraded from an i5 12400F to a brand new i5 14600k in my ITX build with a Jinguye B760i gaming motherboard. While the setup is generally running smoothly, I'm really puzzled because my performance in TimeSpy is way below expectations. I was aiming for a score around 17,000, but I'm only hitting about 11,490. For reference, my old i5 12400F scored around 7,500. My GPU (RTX 4060) is performing excellently, and the CPU temps are good too, not exceeding 67°C and consistently running at 5.2 GHz. I experimented with the XMP profile on my RAM and surprisingly got a better score with XMP disabled (around 13,969 compared to 11,500 with it enabled). Is there something I'm missing? Could the issue be related to my power setup, as my CPU power connection is only a single 8-pin? Additionally, I'm planning to run OCCT to push the CPU to its limits and gauge consumption.

Have you checked the VRM temps while under load? They might be throttling your performance. Also, I’d recommend using Cinebench instead of TimeSpy to evaluate the CPU performance more accurately.

Here’s a rundown of your build:
- i5 14600K
- RTX 4060 Aero
- Jinguye B760i Gaming motherboard
- Thermalright 650W Gold SFX PSU
- 16GB DDR4 3200 Netac RAM
- Corsair D2000 case
- Deepcool AK400 cooler.
Everything looks solid from what I see!

What RAM kit are you using in terms of speed and timings? And what do you mean by "gear"? I might be missing some jargon since I'm not familiar with all the terms.

Just to clarify, isn't 17,000 the score for setups with DDR5 memory? That could explain some of the performance discrepancy you're seeing.
