Hey everyone! I recently finished most of my first PC build and got an MSI RTX 5050 8GB for around £240. However, some friends have been telling me that I might have made a poor choice and that I could get better performance for the price with a 3060 12GB. I've seen a few used 3060 cards on sale, but I'm worried about the trustworthiness of used gear. Should I consider switching to a 3060, and if so, what should I look for in a used card? Thanks a lot!

I see your point! The 5050 is faster most of the time, but if you find yourself needing over 8GB of VRAM, the 3060 can handle that better. You might want to adjust your settings to manage your VRAM usage, though.
Honestly, I’d keep the 5050. It's about 15% faster on average than the 3060, so switching probably wouldn't be worth it unless you're hitting that VRAM limit.
Totally agree! DLSS 4 gives the 5050 a solid edge, so unless you really need the extra VRAM, I wouldn’t bother switching.
If you’ve already got the RTX 5050, there's really no need to switch. Sure, the 3060 has more VRAM, but the 5050 is generally faster and comes with DLSS 4, which helps balance things out. Just stick with what you have!
Just a reminder, the 5050 is only slightly faster than the 3060, so keeping it seems like the sensible choice for now!
