How can I install Ubuntu on my second NVMe drive alongside Windows 11, or troubleshoot a netboot installation error?

I'm trying to install Ubuntu on my second NVMe drive while I have Windows 11 installed on the first one, but I'm running into issues. When I boot Ubuntu from a USB drive, I get a "no medium found" error and it switches to a netboot installation. After downloading Ubuntu completely, it just stops, and I'm left stuck. I've set up the second NVMe as a storage space, but Rufus doesn't recognize it, preventing me from creating a bootable drive for Ubuntu. Any advice on how to resolve this?

Just to clarify, you don't boot an ISO directly from Windows. If Rufus isn’t recognizing your second NVMe, that's a problem because you should be able to create a bootable partition there. You might want to try another tool for making live USBs, like Etcher or Ventoy, which might give you better luck. And as for your question about creating a separate partition on your first NVMe to boot from, yes, you can set that up as long as you can properly partition it without affecting your Windows installation.

It sounds like you're having a tricky boot issue. First off, if your USB isn't booting correctly, double-check that you're using a reliable USB drive and that you're properly setting it up to boot Ubuntu. It seems like your system is trying to switch to a netboot method, which usually requires a server setup that you might not have. Also, keep in mind that Rufus is not ideal for creating bootable images on your internal drives—it's primarily for USB sticks. Instead, I recommend using Ventoy if you want to create a live USB that can handle ISOs more flexibly.
