I'm looking for insights on the current fair market salary for a Senior Systems Administrator or Infrastructure Engineer based in Denver, CO. This individual has 6 years of experience (5 in infrastructure) and holds a BS in Computer Science, along with an RHCSA certification. Their responsibilities include implementing and managing enterprise technologies such as virtualization, backup, storage, datacenter management, physical and virtual server deployment automation, config management, monitoring, and maintaining both Linux (80%) and Windows (20%) systems. They also handle Active Directory management, server vulnerability remediation, and PKI, alongside managing a lab environment with over 100 VMs and overseeing an automation stack for distributed appliances. Given this skill set, I want to know what salary range would be considered fair.

From what I've gathered, the salary for someone with this profile in Denver is around $140k. It really depends on the specific company and their budget, but that's a pretty solid ballpark.

I’d say between $100k to $120k seems reasonable, although two years ago it was about 10% higher before the market softened a bit. Just keep in mind that companies vary widely.

Considering the seniority and technical skills, especially with 6 years of experience and a solid mix of Linux and Windows, you should aim for at least $130k. If the company is not heavily into cloud services, they might offer more to keep top talent.

Salary can really fluctuate based on location. If you're in a high-cost area like southern or northern California, or NYC, you'd be looking at $180k+ easily. But in Denver, you could still expect a minimum of $100k.

With that level of experience and responsibility, I would expect at least $145k in Denver unless the company is offering a mid-level salary, which wouldn't be fair given the scope of the job.
