I'm a business owner running an independent shipping and mail store, and I'm currently facing a frustrating technical problem that's causing me to turn away many customers. We handle a lot of Amazon returns, and while our system works perfectly for USPS and FedEx QR codes, we can't process UPS Amazon return QR codes. Despite our scanners functioning properly, the UPS QR codes don't generate printable labels on our end like they do at a UPS Store. The QR code only seems to provide a unique ID, and without access to UPS's systems, we can't retrieve the necessary shipping details. This is impacting our ability to offer services because once the label exists, we can process the return normally, but we're losing valuable business in the meantime. I'm seeking insight into the technical differences with UPS QR codes, any workarounds you might have encountered, or how to generate labels from these QR codes without direct access to their systems. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I read similar situations on some forums before. The QR code is just an ID, and without UPS's detailed data access, it's tricky. Maybe capture an image of the QR code and get it printed at a UPS location, then bring it back to your store for processing. Just be careful not to mix anything up!
Totally get it! It's frustrating to be bound by their policies. You're doing the right thing by exploring every option.
You might want to reach out to your account manager and open a ticket for assistance. They may have some internal solutions or workarounds for you, especially if you're under contract with them.
It sounds like the fundamental issue here is that UPS QR codes are just ID markers and don’t include shipping info on them. Your scanners should be fine, but without UPS allowing access to their data via an API, you're stuck. The QR code can't give you the details you need, so there's not much you can do from the hardware side. You're in a tight spot since your business relies on handling these returns. It's frustrating, especially when the same codes work at their stores!
So it sounds like I need some sort of access to UPS's system to work around this? That's not easy to come by.
Yeah, they have built a tight system that isn't user-friendly for third parties, which definitely cuts into your business.

I understand that but I've got a contract that ensures I should be able to access UPS labels for drop-offs, so it feels unfair to be blocked by their system. I'm looking for a workaround to this issue.
