Why Is My Game Audio Glitching and How Can I Fix It?

I've been experiencing some frustrating audio issues while playing high-performance video games. The sound tends to glitch, cutting in and out or having delays, and the quality is just poor overall. Oddly enough, audio works fine in simpler games and on platforms like Discord, but it's a mess when it comes to gaming. I've tried adjusting various settings and even updated all my drivers, but nothing seems to help. I also noticed that the Nvidia application stopped working, and reinstalling it hasn't fixed the problem despite multiple attempts. I had a tech-savvy friend come over to troubleshoot, but we couldn't figure it out together. Honestly, I'm at a loss and could really use some guidance. Any ideas?

When games have audio cutouts or delays, it’s often due to either the audio drivers or the kind of connection you're using. Using a wired connection typically resolves latency issues better than wireless. If you've been using volume-control apps, try closing those to see if they might be interfering. Also, keep an eye on any systems running in the background that could be hogging resources. If your PC is older or has a cheaper power supply, that could affect performance as well.

Your audio issues could be related to buffer sizes or outdated drivers. First, try to reset your audio settings in Windows: go to Sound Settings, find your audio device properties, and disable any enhancements that might be causing delays. Also, make sure your audio format is set correctly (16-bit, 44100Hz or 48000Hz). It’s worth checking if your SSD is running low on space – that can impact performance too. If problems persist, monitor your CPU temperatures, as overheating could be causing these issues.

First off, make sure to check all your connections. What kind of setup do you have? If you're using Bluetooth for your headphones, try switching to a wired connection since Bluetooth can introduce latency. Also, consider uninstalling your GPU drivers with Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) and then reinstalling the latest drivers from the manufacturer's site. It might also help to list your computer parts so we can get a clearer picture of your setup.
